The Institute for Responsible Citizenship | The Washington Program

The Institute invites the nation's best and brightest African American male college students to apply for an intensive two-summer program in Washington DC.

More than 260 young men have participated in the Institute since 2003 and have gone on to achieve successful career in politics, law, medicine, ministry, academia, business, tech, and more.

What to Expect

• Paid internships (or stipends of $5,000) in field of interest
• Free campus housing in Washington, DC from May 31 to July 26
• Rigorous academic seminars on ethics, constitutional principles and economics
• Comprehensive leadership and professional development workshops

• Engaging activities that promote strong bonds with peers and alumni

Application Requirements

You must be a sophomore attending a 4-year college or university and be willing to commit to two summers in Washington, DC. All majors and career interests are welcome. We are now accepting applications on a rolling basis. If you are interested, you are strongly advised to submit your application early.
