Welcome to The Black Book

Beginning your collegiate years here at UCSB is a very important and exciting time. As you get oriented to your new surroundings we want to make sure that you are aware of people, organizations, programs and services that are available to you, and things that may be beneficial to members of the Black community. We have compiled this resource guide to make you aware of the various avenues of support that are available to you. We hope that this guide is put to good use in orienting you to the UCSB community and the surrounding city. Take advantage of the resources that are available to you, and we guarantee that your years at UCSB will be successful and rewarding. Enjoy your years here and make the most of them, because once they are gone you cannot get them back.

And for all returning students, some of this information you may be aware of, but hopefully, this guide will help you continue networking with each other, new students, and the surrounding Santa Barbara community. The “bLACK bOOK” has been created to provide the African American student population with useful resources and in turn, help ease their transition to UCSB. Enjoy!
