Hui-Ling Malone
A Bit about Me
Hui-Ling Malone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education. Her research concerns culturally sustaining pedagogies, critical pedagogy, youth activism, and community oriented African epistemologies in order to advance equity in schools and their surrounding neighborhoods. As a former secondary teacher, her work centers young people and draws on community centric pedagogies to strengthen relationships between students, schools and surrounding community members toward self determination and social justice. She received her doctoral degree at New York University in Teaching and Learning, with a focus on urban education.
