Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s National History
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University by 22 visionary women who were dedicated to scholarship, service and sisterhood. The sorority's mission is exemplified through its five-point programmatic thrusts; Economic development, Educational development, Physical and Mental Health, International Awareness/Involvement, Political Awareness/Involvement.
Kappa Omega Chapter History
Kappa Omega Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on February 14, 1974 by 7 remarkable and dedicated women. Kappa Omega proudly holds the distinction of being the FIRST Black Greek-lettered organization established on the campus of UC Santa Barbara paving the way for others to follow. Kappa Omega Chapter furthers to strive for excellence in education, innovation, and community service projects both on and off campus. Kappa Omega Chapter continues its rich and vibrant history and remains a transformative force, leaving an enduring legacy that will always resonate within the very fabric of the UCSB community and abroad.
Mission
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a national and international organization of college-educated women committed to the development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on uplifting the Black community.
