Join us in welcoming Dr. Fania Davis to campus! In this presentation, Dr. Fania Davis will explore how we can re-imagine healing and justice in the context of our racialized society. The intersections of racial justice, restorative justice, healing, and indigeneity will be discussed at this inflection point. How are these times of disaster, awakening, and repair—inviting us to release and imagine old social structures rooted in white supremacy?

Dr. Davis is a leading international voice on the intersection of racial and restorative justice—and a long-time social justice activist, civil rights trial attorney, author, and educator with a PhD in Indigenous Knowledge. Davis’ work in restorative justice and healing practices provides essential insights into addressing systemic inequalities in our communities. Her emphasis on healing over punishment fosters dialogue and understanding—an approach that resonates deeply in today’s social climate.

The first 75 people in attendance will receive a free copy of Dr. Davis book, The Little Book of Race and Restorative Justice: Black Lives, Healing, and US Social Transformation (Justice and Peacebuilding)

Co-Sponsors: UCSB Restorative Justice Program, A.S. Finance Board and DEI Office, Office of Black Student Development, A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative, and Gaucho Underground Scholars Program.

The MultiCultural Center is the social justice and anti-racism hub on the UCSB campus, and hosts quarterly music performances that elevate and celebrate the vibrancy of diverse communities.
