onBOARD (Broadening Opportunities Across Research Diving)
Applications have opened for the 2024–2025 cohort of the Broadening Opportunities Across Research Diving (onBOARD). This program is focused on diversifying our pool of scientific research SCUBA divers at UCSB and providing research opportunities in Marine Sciences. This will mark the third year of the program and we are excited for the success so far.
The fundamental goal of onBOARD is to lower the financial, cultural and other barriers to scientific diving for UCSB students.

In addition to financing the steps in dive training (e.g. recreational certification, gear purchases, training dives, AAUS certification), we anticipate offering a paid fellowship(s) in research labs at UCSB. We anticipate accepting 3 or 4 students in 2024–2025.
