Director, Office of Black Student Development

UC Santa Barbara looks forward to welcoming a Director that is passionate about engaging in transformative leadership as they collaborate with students, faculty, community members and staff leaders to uplift Black student success and translate the department’s mission and vision into action. We seek a dedicated expert, an advocate and visionary who can apply their knowledge, energy, networks, community building, and expertise as they lead the Office of Black Student Development (OBSD) along with a team of student interns and career staff, to include Assistant Director, Business Operations Analyst, Coordinator of Black Student Life, Academic Achievement Counselors, Advocacy Counselor, and Outreach and Retention Specialist.
General Summary of Department Responsibilities
Provides leadership, vision, personnel and fiscal management for the campus-wide effort responsible for Black student engagement and success which advances a framework for holistic student success for all UCSB students. Advises campus’ divisions in academic, student affairs and administrative services to fulfill the full range of strategic planning, consultation, policy and data analysis, diversity awareness training and direct services to support student inclusion and retention. Ensures student input, and establishes partnership/stakeholder agreements. Designs an inclusive program model to address barriers that impede and strengthen motivators, document accomplishments, and develop culturally knowledgeable services that enhance curricular and co-curricular success.
